Newy band 'Family Dog' drops new banger
Newcastle based musos, Family Dog (FD), have dropped another head bangin', foot tappin', elbow twistin' tune today I Hope We Make It (IHWMI). Following the release of FD’s self proclaimed ‘mini album’, IHWMI takes the band in a new direction.
Talking to Twenty Something Humans, guitarist and vocalist Andy Price said: "The goal when we started tracking was to make a record that sounded like a five piece band, playing at Wembley stadium to no one but the sound guy.
There’s a weird sense of teenage vanity there that I think is smoothed over by the modesty of playing to no one. Contrary to our previous releases, which were doused with foreign instrumentation and over the top arrangements, we wanted this to sound like a live band."
"We built this little piece of rock music from the ground up in my garage."
There’s something about the 'live' sound that’s almost impossible to achieve convincingly in the studio. Maybe it’s the lack of cocked up legs on foldback speakers and gross combination of beer and sweat that lacks?
Regardless, I think we got it pretty close and I’m pretty chuffed we built this little piece of rock music from the ground up in my garage.
Lyrically, I wanted to write from the perspective of my fifteen-year-old self, assertive and self righteous, independent and stubborn. Slowly, I realised I had lost that attitude somewhere in my adolescence, my goals have changed, my values have changed, the idea of making it has well and truly changed.
Wembley Stadium has finally found itself on the second shelf, below a few more important things."
Family Dog will be touring the east coast of Australia in Nov/Dec in support of the upcoming film clip for I Hope We Make it. Make sure to 'like' them on Facebook to keep up to date with their happenings.
